Nigeria-Belgian born and dutch eresivisie top scorer Cyriel Desser proved and showed his mettle once again over the weekend in their league encounter as Heracles defeated Ajax 1-0.
Born in Belgium to a Belgian father and Nigerian mother, the 24 years old confirmed his readiness to dorn the national colour of Nigeria while speaking to the press after Heracles victory; “I know it’s a strong ambition of mine, but sometimes you need to stay focused and not get distracted as a professional footballer.
The fast pace forward who switched his allegiance to Nigeria in December 2019 has reiterated his commitment to represent the Nigeria’s Super Eagles very soon.
“Everyone in the family is hoping – and to be involved with Nigeria would be incredibly amazing for my career, but I’ve got to keep proving myself first.”
“To get a chance to stand at the door is a step forward. You start every day hoping for success at club level. If you keep working hard, hopefully you make some life goals come true.”
Desser is the top scorer in the Dutch league with 15goals, and will hope to get his first national team call up when coach gernot Rohr releases his squad list for the AFCON 2021 qualifiers against Sierra-leone next month.
