Mercurial midfielder Michael Ibe shines in Plateau United home win against Lobi Stars during match day one of the Nigerian Professional Football League.
Nerot Silas opened the scoring in the 12th minute, which was doubled by an own goal from Nigerian International Solomon Kwambe in the 27th minute.
Lobi Stars threw more men forward in search of a goal which paid off in the 32nd minute courtesy a goal via penalty from Super Eagles forward Sikiru Alimi.
The first half ended two goals to one in favour of Plateau United.
Coach Abdul Maikaba in search of a third go to wrap things up introduce 2017 Aiteo Cup winner Michael Ibe in the 60th minute to replace Umar Garba, the dazzling midfielder immediately brought life into the game with his touches and visionary passes which paid off in the 67th minute when he connected Amos Gyang to slot home for the 3rd goal of the evening.
Indeed with Ibe’s creativity in the middle of the park one would fancy him to start in their next match.
An elated Ibe said after the match that Plateau United has all it takes to win the league and that is the team’s target as he also hopes to do more than what he did before he left Nigeria for Jordan.
“This season Plateau United have a good chance to win the league with the quality players we have, Our target this season is to win the league knowing fully well that we have a good team and a good coach
My Personal target is for me to do more than what i did before leaving the country,
When i was in Akwa United 2018 season i made the team of the season also highest goal scorer in the league, Aiteo Cup and Continental as an attacking midfielder, So i want to do more here so at the end we going win the league”.
Plateau United next match is away from home against newly promoted Jigawa Golden Stars which will be played in Kano.
