The morale boosting win over Lagos State based NPFL club side MFM FC courtesy of Abdulrahman Bashir’s 73rd minute goal has got players of two time CAF Champions League winners, Enyimba FC talking tough ahead of their March 1st quarter final encounter against Guinean opponent Horoya AC.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with sportaccess.com.ng after the draws; Enyimba players in Austin Oladapo and Ifeanyi Anaemia strongly believe that the 2018/19 NPFL League champions can scale through to the semifinals of the 2019/20 CAF Confederation cup.
“I know that Horoya is a good team, knowing their past [previous] performance in the caf Confederation cup and champions league; and I strongly believe in my mind that we can scale through to the semifinals if we are able to put more hard work, commitment and play for each other. As a team, we really have to play for each other and we are likely to get to the semifinals.
In addition to what his teammate said; Ifeanyi Anaemena made it known that Enyimba’s win over the Olukoya Boys (MFM FC) is a morale booster as the people’s elephant head into other games; starting from this weekend’s match day 19 fixture against City rivals Abia warriors.
Anaemena said :” We know what is at stake, we just have to get better in our [the] league, find a way to make up for the other games we have; which will start with the game on Sunday at home and we will make sure we try our best to win”.
Enyimba finished second in group D with 10 points courtesy of their 5-2 away victory over Ivorian club side San Pedro; with goals from bashir Abdulrahman, Austin Oladapo, Stanley Dimgba and a brace from Mbaoma victor to seal another quarter final qualification after being knocked out by Raja Casablanca in the semifinal of the 2017/18 edition.
